Why Care About the Southern Baptist Convention by Lance Crowell

Why Care about the Southern Baptist Convention?

I (Lance) was in Orlando a few weeks back for the annual Southern Baptist Convention. It happens annually in different locations around the country. There are many reasons that I think this meeting is important and this year was more important than others. The big feature this year was the Great Commission Resurgence (GCR). A task force was put together last year to look at how all the moneys that come into the convention could be deployed better, or to affirm or change where the funds have been previously spent. They brought 7 points to the floor of the convention to change several things. One of the most notable is a refocusing of the North American Mission Board to target the largest unreached cities in the country. This is an intentional focus on lostness and about reaching the lost. This was a very important and valuable step in reaching more people with the Gospel. I have linked 2 websites below to give you more info if you want to know more. The Second one is an interview with Tony Merida an SBC pastor who was the keynote for National Collegiate Week Last year and will be speaking at this years SBTC annual meeting in Corpus Christi.

Collegiate Leaders,

We wanted to provide those of you who missed the webinar with a link to this months talk that Chuck Bomar provided for us. Chuck dealt with Innovation and Implementing New Ideas and how they relate to ministry as a whole.  He discussed what he has seen working in his ministry as well as some problems he has seen in ministries in general.  We believe he provided some great insights and thoughts for collegiate leaders. We have listed it on our box.net page. You can download it and watch and listen when you have time!

Give us some feedback so that we can know how better to help your ministry.

Don't forget to connect with us next month as Dave Proffitt will talk about DEVELOPING AN EVANGELISTIC CULTURE.
